What is that Orange Button?

Rss for shoestringstartup.net
Have you ever wondered what that little orange button is?
Once I clicked on it and got a bunch of html code. How are you supposed to read that I wondered? It took a while for me to figure it all out, and I’m happy to pass along all that info to you.

Subscribing via the orange button makes it really easy to keep in touch with all your favorite blogs - without having to visit the site. You can easily scroll through headlines, topics, newsfeeds and scan - quick and easy!

Here’s what you do:

Get a reader.

There are a lot of them out there, and you can download readers or use online ones like Bloglines, but my favorite is Google feedreader. (reader.google.com). You’ll need a Google account, but it is easy and free to sign up.

When you hit that orange button at your favorite blog, (which you will do here of course), it will add the subscription automatically to your reader, Google, or Netscape or your favorite reader. Then you can read the posts without having to go to the blog - a real time saver.

The one best thing about the RSS feedreader/subscription?

You’ll never be giving out your email address unless you want to.

It is all about your choice

If you prefer you can subscribe via email.

The important thing is that you push the orange button, and stay in touch. See that little orange button up top? Go Ahead. Push it.

I went to sub by email through your Feedburner link, but couldn’t find a way to get it by email. I know that I need to make this accessible on my site as well - let me know when you get it fixed, and I’d love to know what you did to fix it so I can do it as well. ;)

    Opps! fixed it. thanks.
    Here’s how.

Go to feedburner. then to publicize
email subscriptions and then activate. you can wait about 1 an hour for it to show up or ping yourself so it shows.
    thanks again.

Wellll, I had already done the activation stuff, just had to get the code on my site. It was a lot easier than I thought! Thanks for the motivation. :D
