If you’ve read my life story on the Serial Entrepreneur, you’ll know that I love the creative process of starting, building and growing a business.
Today, over on eMOMS -Guest Author Aruni asks:
What makes an entrepreneur? This is her list:
- Embrace change and are comfortable with change (after a bit of freaking out, of course)
- Believe their ideas will work even when greater than 50% of the world looks at them as if they were nuts. They have to believe because something like 40-50% of new businesses fail in the first year and 80% fail within 3 to 5 years.
- Understand that building a business is a marathon, not a sprint (except if you are one of those people who start companies to flip them…nothing wrong with that but I don’t see them as entrepreneurs, I see them as flippers J)
- Are hit in the face with a problem and after a bit of whining and ‘why me??’ time, they start thinking about ways to work around or through it.
- They want to change the world. They want to make a difference!
This is my contribution to the list: - Entrepreneurs are:
- Brave risk takers, but sometimes foolish ones.
- Usually need some focus or they get carried away with the possibilities.
- Are very creative, never running out of ideas, only time to execute them.
- Workaholics. Yea, What of it?
- Always in a hurry, rushing to get everything done - and getting more done in one day than others get done in a week.
- Can see the big picture, and know what steps it takes to make it happen.
Funnily enough though, entrepreneurs can also be funny or crabby; always on time or never on time; neat freaks or chaos lovers; Entrepreneurs are just like the rest of the population - regular people with dreams and goals.
Why do we think they are different?
